Are the Default Lineups Generated By Daily Fantasy Nerd Any Good?

I am posting this because I received a DM from a reader last night implying that DFN is trash, a scam, etc. Based on what I can tell, the person lost $5, which sucks for sure, no one likes to lose.

There is more to winning DFS contests that having a killer lineup. You can have a total shit lineup, enter the right contest and still place.

My basic approach to playing DFS is as follows:

  1. Do research. Look at the players, teams, weather and Vegas odds. Lock and exclude accordingly.
  2. Play cash games to increase odds of winning (around 50% of field places). Play single entry GPPs if you want to play GPPs to make it a little more challenging.
  3. Run the optimizer to fill in gaps with players you might have overlooked. Compare the default to your selections. Use the tool to identify players.

I freely share info about what I do to build DFS lineups regardless of sport.

No one advises playing the default lineups. Not me, not the creator of Daily Fantasy Nerd, nothing you will see on the web related to DFS lineup optimizers. I do it to test out the optimizer and the underlying algorithms. If the optimizer is good, it will place now and then. I risk my money and I show the results.

I think it’s really critical to understand that if default lineups cashed all the time, this software would not be going for $30-$60 per month. If the default lineups cashed all the time, it would be a Perpetual Money Machine, literally a goose in your office laying golden eggs on your desk every day that games are played. Daily Fantasy Nerd is a research tool, and in my opinion it is the best on the market. That is my opinion and worth the price of your admission to this site.

All that said, I present as recent evidence that the default lineups generated by Daily Fantasy Nerd are good lineups:

Daily Fantasy Nerd Default MLB Lineups Place 1 and 2 in 100 Player GPP

I entered the 1st and 2nd default lineups in the 7:05pm ET (Main) in a 100 Player GPP last night (9/14/2016). Placed 1st and 2nd in that at 1st in a 50/50 for good measure.

Daily Fantasy Nerd Default MLB Lineups Place 9th and tie for 11th in 100 Player GPP

I ran the optimizer about 6 minutes before games were to begin at 9:40 pm ET last night (Late Night) and entered the 1st, 2nd, and 4th in a 100 Player GPP last night (9/14/2016). The default lineups placed 9th and tied for 11th.

My Conclusion?

Based on my experience, much of which can be found on the results page, the lineups generated by Daily Fantasy Nerd kick ass.

And one last note: you only have to win a small field GPP once in awhile to keep playing. I can lose 19, win the 20th and keep having fun. This is all about fun to me, and bringing a new level of excitement to watching the games.
